Ben Sharony has been working as a composer and music producer in New York City for the past eight years. Recent work includes his score for the feature film Fatal Secrets (Showtime, The Movie Channel, 2009 Best Score Prize - Moondance Film Festival), and the short film Bridge (Audience Choice Award - New York Blackout Film Festival.) His commercial work can be heard on MTV, Vh1, Sundance Channel, and Nickelodeon. His original song “Dumpling Butts,” written for comedian Tracy Morgan was central to the promotion of Vh1‘s Hip-Hop Honors Ceremony. Ben’s work is defined by its eclectic and diverse influences; pop, hip-hop, and rock sensibilities filter through and converse with symphonic and classical technique.
The short film Last Words of the Holy Ghost represents Sharony’s first foray into writing and directing. It has screened at over a dozen festivals internationally including Austin, LA Shorts and Lucerne. In December 2011, the film was awarded the Best of Americas prize at the Aguilar De Campoo Film Festival in Spain. You can see a trailer and learn more about it here.
